Originally iPhone 6 was the biggest launch for Apple with a brand new design. The 6s didn’t have any radical design change. But what it lacked in design, the iPhone 6s gained in its internal. No one thought that this would happen. But Apple surprised everyone by announcing that all iOS 14 and iPad OS 14 supported devices will receive iOS 15 and iPad OS 15. Yes! iPhone 6s and iPad Air 2 which were released around six years ago will receive the latest update. This is amazing right.
RAM
iPhone 6s doubled its RAM capacity from the previous model to 2GB. Apple doesn’t include much RAM in its smartphone as they work towards improving efficiency. But the inclusion of 2GB RAM for the iPhone 6s in 2015 helped it to keep up its usability in 2021. Though 2GB RAM isn’t much in 2021, with good efficiency, the iPhone 6s was able to get the latest iOS 15 updates like the iPad Air 2.
Processor
The processing prowess of the iPhone 6s at that time was miles ahead of any other smartphone. The high-performing A9 and A8x chip gave the iPhone 6s and iPad Air 2 the necessary juice to work well even after six years of use.
iOS 15
Let’s face the truth. iOS 15 is not a big update. Yes, there were some useful updates to FaceTime, iMessage, and other apps. Apple provided only the features that could be handled by A9 and left the rest. This smart decision of letting only the usable features to iPhone 6s is the main reason why it has become the king of longevity. The same applies to the iPad Air 2 and iPad OS 15.
Thoughts on iPhone 6s
iPhone 6s handled all tasks well. It had a great camera, a good display, a decent battery for my use, and a powerful processor. The iPhone 6s was and will be a great smartphone in 2015.
